There are parts of the book (pieces of advice) that are clearly aimed at women younger than me, but as a nearly-fifty-year old with a newly-empty nest who is *re* discovering her passions, I thought this was a great read! I'm not big on self-help, most of it is just good advice and common sense, but the good advice and common sense here were delivered up by Ms. Jones in an upbeat, easily approachable way that never felt preachy; it was more like sitting down and talking to a friend than it was reading a book). It is definitely a book I would get for a younger person (including my daughter)--but we all face moments in life where we feel a little lost, moments where we need to figure out who we are (or who we want to be) and re-ignite the creative fires and remembering how to fly. There is no age-limit on seeking your dreams, no matter *what* society tells you.
This is a fabulous book. I honestly would recommend every woman should read it at some point in there life. It should probably be a required book for girls in middle school. This book is so motivational for women, and young ladies.
I don't usually write reviews, and I don't usually read these kind of books but I had seen it around and was inspired. I read the book in one day and it put me in SUCH a good mood. I'm impressed. I plan on making every woman I know read it. It says all the things you would expect, but in such a way that it feels like Alexis is on your side and rooting for you. Loved it.
Book is great book when you're trying to seek out where you belong. It's a kick in the butt as well as an inspirational peptalk to get you into gear, quit making excuses, and be your own Prince Charming with hard work to make your dreams come true.
I LOVE this book. It has helped me to learn so much about myself that I didn't realize, like why I keep things to myself and why I don't try something new. Because of this book I have been able to open up just a little bit more and find out who I really am and who I am suppose to be.
I haven't even finished the book and I'm already inspired to be me and embrace who I am and what I want. She really is helping me not to compare myself to others on my abilities or attributes. We have to love ourselves first. Putting myself first has always been a struggle. I felt selfish. But Alexis wants you to be just a little selfish haha! And in a good way. This book is a most read for all young girls and women of all ages. Even if you don't need the boost at the moment, our lives and situations change so quickly that one day you might need it. I highly recommend it!
This book was truly eye opening. It allowed for so many valuable connections to be made and lessons to be learned. All girls - no matter what age - should read this book.
Just started reading, but I'm hooked. I like how it's broken up with stories and almost little "to do" segments too... Well-written and I'm excited to finish. In my 30s and believe this book applies to any and all women, of any age.
