The idea of the book was great when it was published (Help those really rusty in GMAT math, and I would say if you have been out of college for 4 or 5 years, you are rusty). However, the first edition had more mistakes than almost any other book I am aware of (and that's quite disturbing and ironic for a book designed for those lacking confidence in math).I would recommend that you pick up a Foundations of GMAT Math, 5th Edition (Manhattan GMAT Preparation Guide: Foundations of Math) instead. I really disliked this book, so much in fact that I am trying to pawn it off to someone else. The answers in the book have not been reviewed or edited, so many of the answers to the problems are incorrect, which left me searching for half an hour (twice) to figure out what I did wrong, only realizing that the book was wrong. I also find that some explanations are beautifully detailed, while others don't even exist. It can be a real problem when you don't understand how to do something because the book decided you didn't need to know. I am very disappointed.
If you are just begining to study for your GMAT. Make sure you get this book and undertand the fundamentals from it. I was able to step up my quant difficult from this book. I believe that this book coupled with other workbooks is a must to prepare for the GMAT. I only wish I would have studied his book before my first test.
This book is helpful for those who need a truly basic reintroduction. The practice problems, however, are too easy to reflect what will be on the GMAT.
I'm not good at math at all. In addition, I attended elementary school in a third world country. This book has the very math foundation I needed.
