I bought this book shortly after attending a workshop led by the author, Brenda Brozek, herself. Prior to this workshop, I had given up my job search for a nursing assistant position because I had applied for many jobs, and I never got called for an interview. I took this as a sign that getting a job wasn't right for me at the time because of where I was at in nursing school.So anyway, I bought this book. I read through the book and followed the tips and advice in the resume section initially. I immediately saw where my mistakes were. I decided to try applying for a position using the book's recommendations-- not really caring much about the outcome and wouldn't you know it, I got a call for an interview two days later! The hiring manager said my resume was impressive! I then went through the interview techniques and applied them towards my interview. I received a call again two days later and unfortunately I did not get the job. However, the hiring manager said that I was one of the top two candidates for the position; the only reason why I did not get that job was because of my short time left in nursing school (I am in my last semester). She said that I had a great resume and I interviewed rather well. Because of my time left in school, she felt that I should wait and apply for a new grad position; she said she was confident that I would be a very strong candidate. This was encouraging as I know now that the advice from Brenda Brozek's book is quite sound. I plan to refer to this book again when I am applying for a new grad position.One last thing I wanted to say about this book is that it is so informative, helpful, systematic, and well-organized.
