I have used the "...4Today" series for years as homework,practice,review, and assessment. The Math4Today is especially good. This particular product uses the same stories and activities as the previous publications. It looks like what they have done is to combine many of the previous Write4Today and Read4Today activities in this one book and changed the title to "Common Core Languge Arts 4 Today." There is not that much new in this current publication. So, if you have the older versions of Read4Today and Write4today, you really don't need this "new" product. That said, this is a very good supplemental/practice book. I have found them all to be very useful for homework, review, and mini assessments.
I just got this book for my son who will be attending 4th grade this fall. We are working on this over summer. The workbook is meant for everyday practice and has small sections for Mon to Thurs and a review page for Fri. I wish that the Mon to Thurs sections were spaced out and not cramped in one page. Otherwise each section has variety of language and comprehension questions making it varied and not boring for the kid.
It is a great morning work activity, not so much that they will feel discouraged but enough to get the concept in.
I purchased this book as a time saver to hit all of the common core standards during my instruction. Unfortunately, the activities are just lame. Save your money. Cruise the internet for activities or write your own.
This book of worksheets is a great supplement to what your child is learning in school. I purchased this workbook, along with a couple of others, to help my son, who just changed schools. His new school is behind his previous school and I want to help him keep progressing and not get behind. My son has a learning disability and it helps for us to work together and spend extra time on subjects he struggles to master. I use these workbooks during school vacations and summer break to help my son keep his skills growing and to reinforce what he learned at school. These worksheets are perfect! We do one page of each subject a day and it's just enough to accomplish our goals. I highly recommend these books for parents and teachers!
This book is good. It gives a wide variety of genres for kids to read and good questions to promote comprehension. I think it must be pretty close to how the test questions are going to be structured, so it's a good book to use to help prepare your kid to face the PARCC standardized test.
This is a great day starter. I just with it used more academic vocabulary. they say find the word that is the same as......I wish they would say find the word that is the same as or synomyn for....... Besides that good book.
I am a 4th/5th Grade teacher, and I love these workbooks. We use them in school for morning/bell work, homework, and reinforcement of concepts. The way the stories are broken down into passages is especially helpful to students who struggle with reading comprehension throughout long passages, and I see a marked improvement in my students after they work consistently with this workbook.
