These series of books have helped my children to pick up on reading so much! If your child already knows the alphabet and is in the very beginning of reading then these will help! My triplets started kindergarten and started learning sight or anchor words for kindergarten. These books are loaded with these same words and are put into simple sentences to help with learning. The higher the level of books the harder the books become. And for the price you cannot beat 25 books! These are a must have for beginner readers and reviewing. The picturs go along with the sentences to help the child figure out the words. Just minor prompting and they take right off. If you read it to them first they will read it back by memory, at first, but if they forget a word you must prompt them to sound out the letters and then they take off on learning to read.
My 6 year old had finally gotten to the point where the "A" level first readers were too simple so I ordered these. They are only marginally more difficult in my opinion and she breezes through them. They do seem to have more words overall, but a lot of repetition like the easier ones and I find her getting bored with the books. I still gave them 4 stars because they're great for practice and don't take long to read. But if you already have the "A" level books and are looking for a more challenging set for your reader, you could probably skip these and go straight to C.
My 4 year old granddaughter and I love to sit in "my chair" and read book, after book, after book until she loses interest. I like that the stories are short and she is starting to recognize certain words by sight. Real good gift for children with short attention spans
My son really enjoyed these books every parent should buy. They really help the children learn to read. Every parent should purchase these. I love these little books great pictures and very easy to read.
Great little series created by Scholastic. It provides progressive support to beginning or challenged readers develop decoding and fluency skills. Great product for home or school,
My three y/o did very well with these. For an adult, these are very redundant and simple but when you step back and look at them through a child's eyes they are a good stepping stone for reading (hence the phrase "Practice make perfect"). Before he read these he started with "Sight Word Readers" which he did good with also.
These are great books and I use them in my classroom everyday! Kids love to read them and even my littlest kids can read them by looking at the pictures! I would buy these again and again!
I absolutely love these books. There are 26 few paged books. They are three to four lettered words, encapsulating only a few words per sentence. It's large enough print for small wee ones to give sounding out a try. Love love love them!
