In preparing my action research project for my Masters degree, I found this book to be very helpful and a good resource. It is not an in-depth book, but it is insightful and helps to narrow your focus and keep you on track in the planning stages of the action research process. It gives good examples of projects that have been done and the insights gained from those projects. This book is by far the best of it's kind, although I wish it had just a little more advice for the beginner of the entire process. It is great for planning, but I was left thinking, "now what?" I figured it out, but it took a little doing on my part. The book does have good outside resource lists to help you answer questions you might have.

This was the second book I purchased for an Action Research class I was taking online. The lack of leadership and support in the class lead me to find my answers in other places. Our lead text made terms and concepts confusing, but this book made it all seem easier. I suggest that if you are doing an action research project for your master's degree this is a great purchase! There are even helpful examples and stories of reflection from the author. Great book and a true life saver!

This book is invaluable when attempting to set up an action research project. Although geared towards teaching and improving aspects under your control this book would be a great resource for anyone attempting an action research project.

I teach graduate level research courses and reviewed this book for the publisher. There are so many errors in this book that I cannot even begin to list them. I could not in all practicality use this book with my students because of the multiple theoretical and conceptual errors. Another reviewer suggested graduate students get the book because it is helpful. As a professor I would not agree. There are many other texts that do a much better job discussing Action Research that are more practical, precise, make relevant connections to practice, and offer theoretical and conceptual accuracies.

This book does what it's supposed to do -- serves as a guide for any teacher forward-thinkng enough to want to actual research her/his teaching. It meets its purpose. Teacher Action Research is done by many teachers as a college requirement, but some teachers decide to do it on their own. It is time consuming but ultimately worthwhile as it leads teachers to often end up being better at their craft. It involves teachers seriously paying attn not only to their students and their jobs, but to HOW they are teaching -- first choosing a topic, the one "thing" that is puzzling them or that is going not quite right in the classroom -- and then spending considerable time taking lots of notes, possibly conducting surveys, gathering research on this topic and then ultimately analyzing it to pull it all together for a research paper showing what was learned from this research. THIS BOOK SERVES AS A GUIDE to all these steps. Quite thorough and helpful. I only didn't give it 5 stars because I prefer books that are fun reads. This, though it had "fun" parts in its reader-friendly anecdotes and examples -- was mostly a technical read.

Im getting my MEd and this is really helping me write a research experiment proposal. It takes me step by step through the different steps to do that.

Delivery and book came in as expected.. met all of my requirements. I write in short choppy sentences reflecting short choppy thoughts. and it's hard to meet the minimum

A good practical book on Action Research for teachers. A lot of materials to browse through and they are very helpful.
