Three stars because: I bought a Kindle Fire because this book can't be downloaded to anything else, but only to find out Kindle Fire can't be read. One of the main points for buying an e-book from is that it can be read to you, which saves enormous amounts of time when driving around listening to your books, or going for a walk/run while reading. It is a shame this book does not allow any of those.I had to give it another two stars because Ovando, et al.'s book is a great resource for anyone who deals with Minority Language students, I would say, a must read for any teacher and all administrators these days, especially Chapter 4.

I am really liking electronic textbooks. Buying it would cost too much electronically but renting was more reasonable, especially more reasonable than dragging a textbook around while commuting by public transportation. The textbook was extremely useful in studying and reading on the go, highlighting important information, and bookmarking pages. Also, I could jump to a specific page or to the beginning. I also typed some notes. I have a rather cheap android tablet and it worked beautifully, though it helped if I was not connected to the internet. I hope I can access my notes but otherwise am completely satisfied.As far as the content goes, for the most part it was comprehensive and gave the reader a very balanced overview of where ESL and Bilingual Education is at and what is expected. Some scholarly word choices seemed antiquated and inaccurate and could have been better regarding descriptions of specific groups of people..

I had to buy this book for a required Structured English Immersion class. It is very redundant and in some places downright propagandaish. I completely agree with the premise that we need to help English Language Learners to be able to speak academic English in order to succeed in school and ultimately in the workforce, but the author did not do a very good job of helping you learn how to accomplish that goal. The history in the later chapters was interesting, but the beginning chapters was hard to get through.

This book has provided me with great insights into the needs of students I'm likely to encounter in bilingual classrooms. As an English language native speaker and a learner of three other languages, I can look at language learning from both points of view. I find this book to be an excellent guide written for teachers and anyone interested in native language development and second language acquisition. This book should be a required reading for all teachers who are pursuing studies in bilingual education.

It helped me get through my class. I loved that I was able to highlight and put in one place so I can get to the answers fast. I liked the examples they provided as well. I'll recommend this book to many teachers teaching the bilingual students. It was an easy read and understanding material for anyone to read.

I cannot give an accurate review of the actual text. The book came in record time. I have read only the first chapter but it seems that the authors use a lot of big words to get their points across.

I thought the text was well-written and informative. I was not horrendously bored the whole time I had to read it! The seller got it out out to me very quickly, which I was grateful for.

This is a great book that has real life applications for teachers in their ESL classroom. I loved this book and I am definitely going to keep it as a resource on my bookshelf in my classroom.
