For any teachers who want to improve their effectiveness in teams and decrease frustrations when teams don't work, this is a useful resource. The chapters touch on the real issues that affect schools and keep the adults in schools from working effectively together. In other words, all the unmentioned political and interpersonal foolishness that nobody teaches you about in teacher school are laid right out there, along with suggestions on how to deal effectively with problem situations. A real must-read for teachers who value collaboration. If you want to be a better colleague and develop the skills to deal effectively with other school professionals, this book can help you. If you are a special education teacher frustrated by resistance from general ed teachers, this book can help you. If you want to stop wasting time at team meetings, this book can help you.
Teaching collaboration should be a hands on process, not a book! This certainly has some great points to offer but it should have been written more direct. I would have enjoyed it better if it had a focus around different activities to teach team collaboration. It became very repetitive and boring. This book was a required course for a graduate special education teacher.
Are you serious, there is an entire chapter on "How to ask questions" and "What is a paraeducator"Each chapter could be about five or six sentences long. I wish I was still within my return window, I would send this garbage back. Keeping it great condition so I can sell it back to .This book may be useful for 19 year old new college students with no life or work experience, but if you have some time in the real world, this is all VERY common sense stuff.
DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK IF YOU WANT TO USE IT ON YOUR KINDLE. I have a Kindle touch and my entire goal for buying this was to have the book be ultra portable. Unfortunately, once I purchased it I found that "This item is not compatible with this device"???? Why in the world would a book sold for the Kindle not be compatible with a Kindle!
I thought this book was very interesting. It has helped me gather new ideas as a future leader to help lead my team and create more team work situations instead of solo work. I have used things in this book to help create new team building exercises in my classroom and as a lead teacher to engage my students and fellow teachers in classroom exercises. I do recommend this book for anyone looking to be a future leader weather it’s in the class room leading a group of students or an anyone looking to be an administrator.
This book teaches how to communicate and collaborate with others, especially in a school setting. If you struggle with communication skills or the communication skills of others, this book might open your eyes to the pitfalls inherent in communication and strategies for overcoming them or getting past them when collaborating. I don't consider this a particularly difficult area for me, but I still picked up some good tips from the text.
This textbook is difficult to read and bores me. They could have said the same things in simpler terms and much quicker. It seems to be very repetitive, but I have already taken a class like this one with a much better text.
Much of the same information repeated throughout the chapters. Also would like to see chapters shifted around. didn't think the order was appropriate or logical.
