This story sucks. Not the book. The book is alright. The story is about cancer. Brain cancer. And cancer sucks. What doesn’t suck, is the tale that is pieced together from a survivor who didn’t let his head get the best of him. I'm Travis McGinnis, and I wrote this book to share my journey with brain cancer. I was 30 years old when I was diagnosed. Brain cancer sucked nearly two years from my life, but I'm now stronger because of it. Within these pages, you'll read about my thoughts, struggles, failures, and successes. My hope is that you'll find encouragement through this book. If this book can help just one person, then it'll have been worth it. I will be donating 50% of all proceeds to The Hope Lodge in Rochester, Minnesota. Such a great story! Travis does a good job at making you feel like he's just sitting in front of you, telling you a story. I laughed, I cried, I laughed some more. I appreciated his use of humor during some of the more serious parts. If you haven't read it, you should. And take away from it that focusing on things we cannot change does nothing for ourselves, or those around us. Travis is a great example at how hard it is to always focus on the right things, but also at how it can be overcome. You won't be disappointed.
The book describes a battle with a brain tumor and the grueling treatment. The Author gives an awesome description of the surgery, treatment, the Author's thoughts through the ordeal, and the importance of the support of family and friends. Informative, sad, funny, heartfelt.
Great story about the journey through a cancer diagnosis and treatment. You get to travel with Travis and almost experience it with him, his thoughts and emotions through an unimaginably difficult time for him and his family. Extremely difficult to put down.
Cancer Sucks....but this book does not. The heartfelt story of a young mans journey through diagnosis and treatment of brain cancer. A quick read that will make you smile, laugh and cry all within the same paragraph. Feels like the author is right there telling you all about his journey. You can't help but feel a connection to him and his family.
A good book written to journey with Travis through the ups and downs of a brain tumor and subsequent treatment. I laughed, I cried and sympathized with emotions well depicted in a hard-to-put-down book.
