Well written and thorough. I bought this in addition to some other CEN books and this one was right on par with those if not better because of full practice test that was included. This one wasn't as in depth as some of the other books, but I appreciated it not reteaching me things I already knew.

My certification will expire next year, so I thought I'd check out this book to get a head start on recertification. The book speaks directly to the updated CEN content. In fact, the authors basically took the CEN content outline from the BCEN website and wrote directly to those topics in the order that they're presented by BCEN. There's no question that this book covers everything you need to pass.There's no fluff or filler, and the book is written in easy-to-read, natural language. No excess jargon. No attempts to be humorous. No exhausting chapters on generic test-taking strategies. This book cuts right to the meat.The downside to this approach is that it makes the book not-so-great for actually learning the material, and makes the book more of a cram review. One thing I didn't like was that the practice exam did not have rationales for the answers. However, it's presented as a review book, so I cannot truly fault the authors for this approach. If you're looking to really learn new material, I would advise another book. If you're already an experienced ER nurse and just need to reinforce your knowledge, this book is great.I received this item at a discount in exchange for my honest review.
I've been an ER nurse for 8 years now and I have not taken my CEN exam. I have to say that test taking is not my best skill and I'm currently reviewing several books to help me with it. I received this book on time and I started reading over it to take my exam. What I like about the book is that the each system is divided, the print is large, and the wording is simple and clear. Once I do take the exam, I will follow up. I figured the earlier I started studying the better I will be at taking the exam. I received this book for free in exchange for my honest opinion.
This is an absolutely Great study book. This is a comprehensive review that covers all likely areas of content that are going to be on the test. It includes practice test questions with detailed answers that clearly explain how the answer was arrived at and why it is the correct answer and not the other ones. It includes many test taking strategies that have proven themselves time and time again. They are something that even the most experienced test taker can learn from. Up-to-date test questions that really do help prep for the test. Easy to follow flow that helps take in the material. The book keeps the material at the simplest level possible to ensure maximum understanding by all audiences. It covers just about everything that is going to be even remotely close to being on the test, leaving nothing out in its attempt to be utterly thorough. I felt much more relaxed and prepared for the test knowing that I had studied all the material, plus it is also guaranteed to raise your score or you can apply to get a full refund! Great book. I just finished nursing school and this has a ton of information in it, a lot of it we covered or some what covered in school. This will definitely help me to get my emergency nursing certification. I am so excited to be studying it.
