Understand My Muslim People

For many Americans, questions, concerns, and misunderstandings surround the world's fastest-growing religion-Islam. Abraham Sarker, born and raised a devout Muslim, knows Islam and understands Muslim people. While Sarker was being trained as an Islamic leader, God miraculously opened his eyes and touched his heart with the gospel of Jesus Christ. He shares his story, then provides a clear description of the history, beliefs, and practices of Islam. Sarker concludes by giving us a better understanding of the Muslim mind-set and offers practical strategies Christians can use to engage in productive dialogue with Muslims.

I enjoyed reading this book tremendously. It not only gives a well organized introduction to the Islamic faith, but Dr. Sarker's first person account of his miraculous journey from devout Muslim to committed Christian adds a personal dimension not typically found in books of this nature. This book is an excellent resource for anyone wanting to know more about the Islamic faith... set on a backdrop of an inspiring testimony of God's grace. The book is organized into three parts: Part 1 is Dr. Sarker's personal story, Part 2 is a presentation of the fundamental beliefs of Islam and its practices, and finally, Part 3 is advice on how Christians should share their faith with Muslims. He answers many of the common questions that we Westerners have about Islam: What do Muslims believe about God, Jesus, the Bible, and about prophets? But more importantly, he gives advice from the perspective of a former Muslim on how to effectively build relationships and minister to Islamic people. If God is calling you to work with Muslims or has placed Muslim people in your life, then you need this book!

Great book for understanding the differences between the Muslim faith and Christianity. The book is an easy read and flows well, paralleling an understanding of Islam with an understanding of Christianity in most of the chapters.

God has put a love and desire in my heart toward Muslims, and He led me to learn more about Islam. I researched Islam on the Internet and eventually I found this book that caught my eye. I purchased the book and read through it over a period of a few days, and now I have a great understanding of the beginnings and beliefs of Islam, as long as how to witness to Muslims the Gospel of Christ. With all the focus on the negativity of Islam in the media, this book gives the absolute truth of Islam. Websites on Islam didn't satisfy my hunger for the truth of Islam, so if you want to know Islam, I highly recommend this book.

I appreciate this book immensely. Having done medical work in several Muslim countries, this book helped much in understanding better the variety of experiences I encountered. Dr. Sarker's personal journey certainly illustrates God's faithfulness to all mankind. I especially liked his excellent treatise on the roots of Islam and his comparison of Islam and Christianity, both similarities and differences. It raised further wonderings, questions I'd love to pose to Dr. Sarker. I hope he writes a sequel. I have purchased more copies to share with others. Kenneth K. Magee, MD

An honest look at Islam, from a man who - as a Muslim - hungered for more. A great balance of the history, meanings, terms and goals as well as the individual and global impact of Islam, the book is not critical of Islam, just truthful. It is both informative and powerful. -- C.M., Dallas, TX

The author tells the amazing story how he came to know Christ and how it cost him everything. He then give facts about the Muslim faith, which are very informative. It's one of the best books I've read on this topic.

I am glad that I ordered 2 of these books and plan to order more. I have read many books on the subject of Islam vs Christianity and this is the best in many ways. It is balanced, well written, well researched and not filled with inflammatory rhetoric, just facts and experiences from the author who grew up as Muslim and converted to Jesus Christ. I am not quite finished with my first reading, but will likely read it again and use it for reference over time. I have given the second book to a 12 year old family member whose father is Muslim and mother is Christian (they are divorced) in hope of giving him a tool of understanding.

The author is himself a Muslim converted to Christianity. He writes clearly and in an interesting manner. The differences between his former Muslim beliefs and his Christianity are clearly outlined
