This book proved useless when it came to studying for the Biology GRE, as it requires you to reference a textbook to get the nitty gritty that you will be tested on for the GRE. I ended up doing well on the test, but that is certainly not attributed to this text. There are so many errors that I had to constantly question the veracity of a majority of the information. At one point I just wanted to write down all the mistakes (yes, there are that many) and send them to the publisher and get a refund. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for a study guide and don't pay for this garbage!

This book helped me refresh before the test. The best studying material is the Biology book by Campbell and Reece that pretty much every freshman uses in their first Biology class. Luckily I kept my book, it is practically the Biology Bible and it helped on the areas where I needed more than just a review. Both books provided an great study tool referencing back and forth between the two. Plus, the sample test at the end og the Kaplan book helped point out my weakness and where I needed to study or brush up more on the information.

First off, although other reviewers said this book does not have the information needed for the details of the test. That statement itself is misleading. The publisher does not intend this book to account for the 2+ years of biology you need to take before you take this exam.It is a high level review and a practice test in one book. If you know the material, this information will bring it back.If you are simply trying to prove that you know biology, but in actuality you don't - this book is not for you.Like any other book of its nature it has quite a bit of information. The GRE Biology subject test is extensive and intended to give a range over three correlated subtopics to allow for proper assessment of skill sets.I do wish that the book had a bit more information on how the test is scored and some insight into the origins of the questions.

I thought I could rely on Kaplan's Biology GRE review book to prepare me for at least 90% of the content on the GRE, but I was completely wrong. I spent months studying and memorizing content from Kaplan, and then a few days before the GRE exam I took a practice test and saw that there was LOADS of info on it that was not mentioned at all in the Kaplan book! Not only did the review book skip over large chunks of content, it also doesn't prepare you at all for the GRE section with experimentation, analyzing+interpreting results, etc. I'm not sure there is a book that does prepare you for that section of the test, but it certainly is not Kaplan. I've been told that Campbell & Reese's Biology textbook is very helpful, but it's over 1,000 pages long and doesn't seem like an efficient way to study. Regardless, Kaplan's Bio review book is a terrible option for GRE prep- don't rely on it.

This book is okay. I was hoping to be able to purchase the online review from Kaplan, but it is no longer offered. Kaplan does not know if or when it will be available again.
