This book not only gave me information to pass the test, it gave me the confidence I was sorely lacking. I was dreading testing day, but was actually at ease by the time it came, thanks to California Drivers Test Made Easy. My wife and I, at age 75, both passed the exam today with flying colors! Be advised much of the actual test 'question wording' may be different than in the book, but the answers all matched those on my test. My biggest praise is toward the California DMV office in Hemet. It was our first visit to a CA DMV in about 15 years, and I would have rather gone to the dentist before! The new system was streamlined, and the office was very clean and organized, with friendly workers. We were in and out in 30 minutes! We filled out our apps. ahead of the appointment day. Our reason for the test is that we moved to Oklahoma for several years, and just moved back. NOTE: Hemet uses large, easy to use touch-screens for the test, so it's not easy to go back for unanswered questions. If you use an iPad or any touch screen computer you'll have no problem.
I purchased this book for my friend in California. She said this book is very easy to read, everything is explained clearly and easy to understand. The possible question examples and correct answers explained.
There were a few stupid questions on the practice tests - determined to be so from driving in California since 1957. They are worded ambiguously and created to confuse and trip up the test taker. I suppose these silly questions are on the state test, so it is probably best that they be included in the practice tests. I must say that it is SUPER thorough!!
HAndy to have as a study tool. Please do note, this does NOT take the place of the actually drivers handbook, but is something to use as a study tool WITH it. Still totally worth buying it to helpo, especially for those nervous about the upcoming test!
I purchased this book for my teenage son to study from for his driving permit. Great information and provides up to date law changes. The book was extremely helpful for him, but also taught me a number of things, even though I've been driving for over 30 years.
....By which I mean that if you buy this book and work through [ sorry about that, I _am_ English :-)) ] the test papers you will gain much valuable knowledge about driving in the USA. This means that you are more able to enjoy your holiday as you will know so much more about the rules and regulations that there are in the USA and so, hopefully(!), not fall foul of them! By the time I'd worked through the first two papers and read the detailed informatation towards the back of the book even I was getting 30+ correct answers! So, I'd definitely recommend this book to any fellow "Brit" who wants to be less of a hazard when driving in the USA. Finally, Alice herself was _most_ helpful when I emailed her with a query I had regarding the DMV in California. So not only a most helpful book, but also excellent feedback direct from the auther herself. Do yourself a favour/favor(!!) and buy it :-)
