This book has typos and typos! I am an SAT tutor and I was looking at this book for my client. These questions are not official questions published by college board. You are better off buying the blue book because those are official questions that were in past tests. Please do yourself a favor and save your money and time by buying an official book! This book will not help you on the real SAT.
I purchased this for one of my students. I teach high school and believe the best way to prepare for these standardized tests is to take a section of a practice test, score it, review the explanations of the questions you got wrong, and move on. With multiple tests students can begin in 9th or 10th grade. During the school year do one 25 to 30 minute section every weekend and one every day during the summer. When one finishes two or three complete tests, go back and try the first one. Have you improved? Review the ones you still got wrong. What trap did you fall into?I give this advice to my students every year. Each year the students that take the advice come back and thank me. I have to remind them that it was their hard work that improved their scores but still I understand that a little direction can make a big change in the outcome.Tell your children this is what they should do. If they don't understand the explanation, have them take it to their Math or English teacher for help. Having something this spacific makes it easy for the teacher to help.
I am catching up on my reviews. I can't remember if I bought this one for the old SAT or the new one administered in 2016. Either way, it helped her greatly prepare for the SAT. She has taken both the new abs old one....so please check product description before buying
This is not a prep book . It just has 10 sat practice tests and 1 psat practice test. The math questions are very similar to those in the CB book . But in the writing section, the questions are easier than the real sat questions . For critical reading, i don't think this book helped me to improve . The explainations are clear and precise .
The product is good. It was recommended that my son use this book prior to his retaking the SAT. I don't agree with that. And although I purchased it, he didn't open it. My theory is give them a good nights sleep, and a good breakfast. His scores were higher than last years without the book. Having said that, if you have a student who can buckle down and use the book, I think the tests, etc would improve the baseline scores. I donated both books I purchased to the high school, so at least they will be of some use there.
I wish I could return this book but it's too late. Should have bought the book from the official test makers instead of this one. It's ok the only real postive would be for more exposure to problems. Get this if you've gotten other books and don't make it your only sat prep book.
After the CollegeBoard SAT prep book, I think this one is the closest to the real thing. It's not a prep book: it doesn't have any instructions or an educational program. It dives straight into practice questions, and, if this is what you need, this book does an excellent job of filling that niche.
Not much to say. My son used this book and the test helped hi, get a great score on his sat's
