Some background: I took the GRE about 8 months ago so I have an idea of the level of difficulty of the real test. I just graduated from college in May 2014. The only math classes I had taken in college were a calculus and research methods course. I briefly went through the ETS prep book before the last test.I scored unsatisfactorily 8 months ago on the quant. reasoning section because I didn't review basic concepts that I hadn't studied since high school. I also found the ETS book to be overwhelming last time, which is why I bought this book. The positives: This book is great so far. It covers basic concepts and shows how they are applied on the GRE. They are turning what was originally a confusingly-worded test into one that can easily be broken down by using basic concepts. There are many practice problems, which is great. Quite surprisingly, I rather enjoy studying for the test now even though I do not particularly care for math. The negatives: There are some print errors. Page 44 of Chapter 3 jumbled up some of the answers so I thought I got the answers wrong at first. There was another typo somewhere in the book that said 3/4= 0.85 as opposed to 0.75, I can't remember which page. Another problem seemed RIDICULOUSLY hard and it turned out that only one of the two equations were provided in the question. The second one had accidentally been left out and not printed on the page. So there was inadequate information to solve the problem. That has made me apprehensive going forward that there will be a mistake that I will not catch and that I will learn incorrectly. That being said, this has GREAT tips for test-taking.
