Cultural Anthropology: A Toolkit For A Global Age

Inspires students to think like anthropologists in a multicultural and global age. Covering the essential concepts that drive cultural anthropology today, Ken Guest’s Cultural Anthropology: A Toolkit for a Global Age shows students that now, more than ever, global forces affect local culture and that the tools of cultural anthropology are essential to living in a global society. A “toolkit” approach encourages students to pay attention to big questions raised by anthropologists, offers study tools to remind readers what concepts are important, and shows them why it all matters in the real world.

I already had been having trouble swallowing what Mr. Guest promotes in this textbook, but when I reached chapter 10 and found that he grossly minimizes the Chinese Cultural Revolution, effectively making it seems harmless and possibly even good, I concluded that I cannot take this man seriously. I will finish reading this book for class, but I will never voluntarily read another book written by Mr. Guest again.

Written in a pretty clear, understandable manner without being too dry. Some textbooks are hit-or-miss, but this was pretty interesting. Also, mine was delivered in very good condition.

Boring, had to buy this for a class. The only good part about this book is the "X-ray" Functionality to skip most of the book and just find the definitions. Textbooks try to hard to be long instead of useful.Once again another required Textbook that is useless and overpriced.

I got this as a rental and might I say that anyone leary of rentals don't be. In seeing the condition and such of this book it is better than some of the stuff you used in high school by in large. A little worn but not egregiously written in or abused outside of normal wear and tear. Good rental purchase and the book itself - I don't know, it's a college textbook, if you need it get it lol.

Book was very clean, lightly used but nothing wrong with the book itself! I am happy with what I received!

I needed this textbook for an online class. The textbook is easy to use as far as looking things up quickly. It's organized well. That being said, I found it extremely dry and boring. The chapters are very long and it felt like I was reading endless pages of definitions.

Book was in great condition but it was a bit costly. I barely even needed to open the book for this class so find out from other students if they used the book often. It would be better to get a used copy of this book so you can save some money. The writer of this book was my anthropology teacher and well he made us get the book so he can make loads of money off us students. It contains a lot of info and many stories that are interesting.

It's a textbook that you'll need for a class. I was lucky enough to enjoy the subject and most of the readings, but I doubt anyone is buying this to read for pleasure.
