A well written introduction on the campaign and battle in thirty seven independent parts. Good maps and writing. Covers the big picture as well as the stories of the individual officers, enlisted men, civilians and even the founding of the modern military park. Lots of great illustrations and photos both modern and contemporary help round out this book. A Selected Annotated Bibliography helps the reader find material for further reading. Great place to start learning about The Battle of Fredericksburg. Worked great on my Kindle Fire. Highly recommended.

Having visited Fredericksburg a few days before reading Mr. Pfanz short compiling of a series of newspaper articles brought to life the landscape of this battle. Particularly helpful are the identification of present streets and land marks providing vivid mental pictures.

The transition to Kindle was easy. It is a good way to obtain books at reasonable prices. What more can I say
