This book is extremely well researched, with plenty of resources cited. It includes photos and maps that help explain where things happened. Mr. Lang's writing style is lively with excellent descriptions. My interest is due to my great-great grandfather having served in the 123rd, as did the author's. Anyone interested in the Civil War or even just a good slice of history will enjoy this book.
My great-great-grandfather George F. Siemon served in Company E of this regiment. So, I am very appreciative of this book! It is pretty much the only major work and history I have seen on my ancestor's unit.
