One of my relatives is very involved in geo-caching, and enjoys doing local historically based caches. I choose this book because I liked that there were fold out maps, easily accessible, for reference while reading the book. This was the first thing my brother in law commented on.I cannot vouch for accuracy, but I flipped through the book briefly before gifting it, and saw several chapters on local historic sites that I personally enjoy visiting. I learned a few things about Chatham manor (which is worth visiting for the little tour of the manor - with the civil war era graffiti!).If I hear more from my brother-in-law I will update, but it was a well received gift for a local history fan.
This book was written well amd the information concerning the Civil War was very interesting. However, the title is a bit misleading in the fact that the book is solely about the war and does not touch on the other many historical points of Fredericksburg.
Our trip to Fredericksburg was wonderful. We learned so much and hope to return in the future.
Handsomely illustrated, thoughtfully written and detailed account of the historic Virginia town with strong emphasis on the Battle of Fredericksburg. Fine for armchair travelers and good orientation if you're planning a visit.
