For anyone who expects a prayer book to be on the dull side, this one is full of surprises. The prayers are taken from all over the world, from the Bushmen and Dinka in Africa to the Aztecs of Mexico, as well as all the main religions.One of the things I liked best was the fact that the prayers were arranged under useful topics that related to everyday life, so rather than an exotic novelty, it has become a prayer book I use very regularly. I now have lots of favorites I hadn't come across before. The other feature that appealed was the strong sense of common humanity, of sharing in the spiritual traditions of people down the ages and around the world, and feeling in yourself the same response to the words that they have been evoking often for hundreds or sometimes thousands of years. Amazing! A real gem.

Organized loosely under different subject headings, such as praise, requests for guidance, healing, and blessings for special times, such as birth and death. The book is thorough, yet small enough to carry with you easily. Whenever I pick up this book I am reminded that humankind, regardless of religion, has a common dependence on the divine, and a desire to raise up to a higher plane.

Probably the best interfaith prayer compilation I've ever come across. On top of the content, the book is beautiful too. Perfect for devotional gatherings!
