Rethinking Multicultural Education: Teaching For Racial And Cultural Justice

This new and expanded edition collects the best articles dealing with race and culture in the classroom that have appeared in Rethinking Schools magazine. Moving beyond a simplistic focus on heroes and holidays, and foods and festivals, Rethinking Multicultural Education demonstrates a powerful vision of anti-racist, social justice education. Practical, rich in story, and analytically sharp, Rethinking Multicultural Education reclaims multicultural education as part of a larger struggle for justice and against racism, colonization, and cultural oppression in schools and society.

As an in-service, white, female teacher, this book was invaluable in helping me understand the cultural and social justice issues that the education system faces and how I can help with these issues in my profession as a teacher.

This is a collection of negative experiences, some based on legitimate issues. Unfortunately, most of the solutions go to the other extreme.

Bought this for a class in MA-TESOL and ended up loving the book. It is a collection of essays that are all very personal and engaging. A must-read for teachers of ELLs.

I was not too crazy about this book but I also did not like the way the teacher taught the course so I might be a bit biased against it.

As expected, thanks

Great book great quality

Needed this book for my multi-cultural education class. It was very interesting.
