4 questions a day for 4 days with a 5th day assessment test that is one page for 40 weeks. It has questions like: What time is on the clock?, addition to the thousands, which is the quadrilateral, list the factors prime or composite, word problems that must be read carefully for example the use of about for estimate, rounding numbers, count the blocks, write the number in word form or as a number, bar graph, tables, subtraction of large numbers, division, small to large number multiplication, greater or less than, adding subtracting multiplying fractions, decimals to fractions, measuring angles. The book become more difficult as the school year would progress so you would want to use this as a supplement to school lessons or a review. It does not tell you how to do the problems. Answer key is in the back of the book.

I bought this for my son for summer practice as he had finished 4th grade and was heading into 5th grade. He does about 2-3 pages a day and the questions are a good mix of easy and challenging. You need to complete the book in order as the skills become more difficult as the book progresses. It would be nice if there was a little more space to complete each question.

do companies just title something so that everyone will buy it because of what is "the trend"? This product rocks! I love it and use it every single day in teaching but don't be fooled - it is isn't common core - thank goodness! It's a great review and tool to help kids review basic skills (and it loops back the concepts which is much needed in the population I teach) that need to be mastered at each grade level. The company needs to delete "common core" and just continue to call it "Math 4 today".

This workbook is very good. It has daily practice paired with weekly assessments. The daily practice problems and weekly assessments help children achieve proficiency with the grade-level common core state standards. This book is common core aligned. Throughout the year, children can also work on building their comfort with the standards for math practice. My son often did this practice after school. It only took him ten minutes to finish a sheet per day, and forty weeks a year. He was very happy because he didn't not need to sit in front of the desk all the time doing boring math practice. He could play games with his friends after a short-time practice. An effective way to achieve mastery is to time the drills. I often made a game of my son's practice by recording his times and help him improve on his times, and recording his scores and improving. I recommend you run a clock for your child and set a fun speed goal to get rid of procrastination. For a benchmark, you can use Beestar online math tests to compare your child's speed with others. My son's math skills (include speed) improved significantly with this book. This sign of improvement can give my son the confidence to succeed in math, which can help him learn to enjoy this subject more. I'm glad I bought this excellent book.

I used these for spiral review for the first half of the year with my math class. It was great for the students, but unfortunately did not always correlate with what we had already learned. This made it difficult to utilize. After a while of use, I was encouraged to use a different spiral review for the purpose of maximum effectiveness. I do plan to keep this in my teacher toolbox and use at the end of the year for review prior to testing though.

I feel like this book doesn't have an identity, it is a nice concept, 4 questions for 4 days and then a test. In reality, it has issues. It might need to expand into explaining how to do the concept. Some weeks do not directly match up with your child's schooling so your child will get a random question thrown at her that has no explanation and doesn't come back again. So even if you sit down and explain it, she only gets one question on it for that week so it kind of became pointless. I felt that this happened a lot in the book. It felt like playing trivia more than supplemental work.

This does cover CCSS content accurately, but the format provides very little space to show work. Not what I was looking for as showing your thinking is a big part of CC.

Good starter, except looking for more rigor. Also, I thought common core was looking for students to explain how they got the answer. Haven't had to do that yet.
