This book is a really good study aid if you're taking an AP world history course. Not only does it help you prepare for the finals but it's also useful for reviewing for test throughout the semester. It explains the finals very well and will answer any questions you have regarding that. It includes spice charts, pretest, short quizzes, and background information that may not have been fully covered in the book.
Clearly written with excellent tips and guidelines for the AP World History exam. Purchased for my high school sophomore son, but I'm reading along with him to make sure he's "getting" it - and to be able to talk to him about the subject matter. We'll see how he does on the exam at the end of the school year!
This book is basically a crash course of AP world history and is designed to help you get a higher score on the AP exam. This book provides some study plans if you wish to use this book and start studying far in advance. I started using this book about a week before my exam. This book features questions at the end of every section to make sure you're retaining what you know. Between the three practice exams in the book, I improved my score between each of them so I would call this product successful. On the day of the AP world exam I felt a lot more comfortable with the exam material and felt a lot more confident on the exam. I will find out in July now if it really helped me to score a higher score.
This book was very condensed and compared to Princeton's and Barron's was a good choice for last minute cramming. However, relying on this book without a textbook supplement can not get you a five. It's too broad; the information is very general for each civilization. In addition, the advice for how to write the essay is completely useless, and they don't include sample essays. In fact, this book retains most of the questions and content from year to year. (Though next year's APWH test will completely change.)Updated: Received a 5 on the 2016 test.
My daughter raves about how much this book is helping her through the class. She says it explains things much better than her teacher or their textbook!
My son used it. The told me it's pretty good--typical teenage answer. :) We ordered it because it was recommended by his AP teacher.
My son needed this for school, great overview of world history. It helps we live in Europe.
