I happened across this book for free during an promotion. At the time I did not know it was a Christian based fiction, and it was my first experience with one. I was a little surprised to see that this bothered other reviewers, primarily because this is a personality trait of a character and doesn't necessarily reflect one's own belief. As readers of fiction we are always encountering characters that say and do things we would not do ourselves--isn't that one of the things that makes reading interesting and fun? Hopefully this review will be helpful to others with concerns about this type of novel. This is a suspense/mystery type novel, though not terribly tricky or difficult to follow. If you are a lover of surprises and challenging suspense plots, you will probably not enjoy this for much more than a "light read" such as myself. The main character does develop a strong sense of the Christian faith in adulthood, in effort to help cope with personal loss and tragedy. This didn't seem all that unusual to me, as this sort of thing does happen in real life on occasion when people suffer through trauma. At any rate I never felt like the author was trying to force religion upon myself personally, like some of the reviewers mentioned. I was well into the book before I noticed any religious reference by the characters. About halfway through however, the author got a bit carried away and seemed to devote an awful lot of time to the characters' thoughts of prayer. I am sure this was intended to indicate that this is how they dealt with stress as the suspense portion of the story reached a pinnacle, but it was very redundant. She had already laid the foundation of the importance of faith to the characters early on, so the reader could easily infer that in times of duress, the characters would likely be looking for guidance from God. I found myself skimming through a good bit of this for several chapters because it was simply unnecessary and boring. Also, the author threw in a couple of comments by the main character Paige, about her disapproval of others skimpy clothing. This was weird and inconsistent with Paige's personality and personal history, rendering an otherwise likable character a little less believable. Perhaps these are some of the things that bothered other reviewers too and made them feel uncomfortable or offended.Overall this was a light read and not overly suspenseful. It was great for a freebie and would have been enjoyable even at $2-$3. As far as the Christian content, it is a reflection of several of the characters personalities-especially since the story takes place in a small rural community where most of the thinking tends to be along similar lines. Sometimes it is just nice to read something other than what you're used to.

I was really saddened by how many people slammed this book and gave it poor ratings just because it is faith-based. Once again the masses are screaming that a book is somehow going to "trick" them into becoming a Christian.Did they even READ the review by Booklist???? I guote: "Breach of Trust is the first book in Mills' faith-based Call of Duty series." Faith-based equals Christian fiction! Also the publisher is Tyndale House, a well known Christian publisher. If people are so terrifed of being "converted" by a book, then perhaps they should learn which publishers are faith-based so they can avoid them.I also noticed that most of the people slamming this book received it for free on their Kindle. So they had no monetary investment, and if they read even a few pages they would know it is Christian fiction so they could stop at that point and delete from their Kindles, so no real time investment. So why the need to slam a book simply because it is Christian?? They said over and over that it was not marked as religious, yet there were obvious signs that it was, which is why I decided to give it a try.I enjoyed the book, found it drew me into the story, couldn't wait to get to the ending. I will be getting the second book in the series, and hope the Christian fiction selection for Kindle continues to grow and thrive!

In this suspense-filled novel, Mills wraps in romance, a solid dose of character faith, and more than one plot twist.Paige Rogers is the librarian in a small town in Oklahoma. On the surface, she's a smart, caring, Christian with good friends and the romantic interest of the high school's football coach. Underneath it all is a past no one would have expected. Once a former CIA agent, Paige was living her life in the fast lane until a covert mission went wrong and she nearly died. She was betrayed by their leader, threatened, and forced to start her life over. But new news surfaces about her past and she begins to wonder if her decision was the right one. Now she must confront the past and potentially lose everything she's worked so hard for in her new home. And she's tested to keep safe the ones she loves and unravel the clues that will expose the man behind the betrayal. For my first Diann Mills book, I was impressed with her technique and the seamless flow of the story. It was a quick read and kept me interested.

Yes, this was a free download on my Kindle, but I enjoyed reading it.I thought it was VERY good and NOT "too preachy" as some of the other commenters have written. They must have a hard time dealing with Christianity in any form and don't know how to overlook parts which they object to.Also, it IS NOT and DOES NOT have ANY "objectionable or offensive" parts. That's what I liked most about it. There was NO cursing -- which was quite refreshing.I highly recommend this book and choose to overlook the narrow minded individuals who were "offended" by a book which was "CLEAN" -- with NO cursing OR sex...How refreshing!
