Having grown up a Christian I was intriged to read a book on what our beliefs of the end of the world would look like in a novel. What I found was a book that was well written, exciting, and kept me on the edge of my seat.I must tip my hat to writter, Patience Prence, who takes on a troubling topic, but delivers a story that is acurate and powerful. The main character, Becky, comes across as the typical teenager who is just trying to survive her teenage years. Suddenly her life is turned upside down when the events of prophecy begin to unfold. The story is terrific and the way it flows will keep the reader turning page after page to see how 'Becky' handles her situation. I enjoyed the way the author put me in 'Becky's' place. I could feel the emotion and sense of forboding she was going through. This is truely a wonderful read that will keep believers as well as non-believers intrieged right up till the end.I highly recomend this book to anyone that enjoys good stories that are well-written.
SCARS is an end time prophesy read. A brand new author for me and a fairly new line of thinking too. I've read and studied the book of Revelations in church like most Christians; however, SCARS opened up a new line of thinking. This is an intriguing read about a young girl and her life in the End Times. This over-the edge-writing is fascinating and keeps one turning the pages just.to.see.what. will.happen.next.There a lot of scripture references in the story and the author was good at keeping the story line about the End Times. This, to me, would be a hard subject to write as a fiction work. The author did a good job of keeping her subject close to the Book.It does create THE QUESTION "What Would I Do If This Came to Pass?"Interesting and Intriguing!
This was recommended to me by my brother and wow what a book. Even though this seems to be aimed to the teen crowd because of the age of the central character, I was really moved by the story. Becky was so courageous and strong in her belief in the Lord Jesus Christ, that I was moved to tears when the end came. I would highly recommend this book to everyone whose faith is either equally strong or even on the waning side. I would especially recommend that parents should have their teens read this book.
This book is riveting from the very first page! I could not put it down utnil I was finished. The author shows great skill in capturing your attention and keeping it. Good job!
I just finished the book Scars: An Amazing Endtime Prophecy Novel. The book was provided to me by the author, Patience Prence. It's about a teen girl, living in the tribulation. The book begins already in the Tribulation. Things are changing quickly, and she never gets to live out her childhood because of the changes. There are natural disasters that kill thousands. Then the man, who the Bible calls the Anti-Christ, comes on the scene. Many are deceived, but Becky decides to do her research. She buys a Bible on the Internet, and learns about the Saviour, Jesus Christ. She becomes a Christian, but because she purchased the Bible on the Internet, the purchase wasn't secret. That purchase got her father and brother kidnapped...and turned her Mother against her. I got very close to Becky in this book, and the last two chapters, I found myself crying for Becky. When she was scared, I found myself scared for her. When she was brave, I was cheering along with her. There are a few questions I still have about the book after finishing it. The book never mentions what Christians call the Rapture. Becky never makes mention to people disappearing. So, getting into the book, I was thinking that maybe this book was written with the belief that the Rapture happens during the tribulation. But Becky never makes reference to other Christians in the area.. there were a few others in court with her. So, I'm not sure if the rapture happened before the book began, or if it happened after the end of the book. Also, I would have liked some closure on what happened to Becky's Dad and brother...and even toward the end her mother. But this was Becky's story, so I can understand why this information wasn't in this book. Because Becky didn't know what happened to them, neither did we.This book was very descriptive. I personally don't care what color the bedstand is, or the ceiling for that matter. I'm not really into description. I like the storyline more. So that was a distraction for me in this book. For those of you who like description, you would like this book.Overall, I think this would be a great book for a teenager or young adult. It's not very long, but it's long enough for you to begin to relate to the character. Me personally, I began to hurt along with her..and feel sad for her. But at the end, all the pain pays off.
When I bought this book, I thought I'd be reading the same tired story line about the End Times. I was wrong!Scars is a very powerful story about the prophecies of Revelation as seen through the eyes of a teenaged girl. Patience Prence does a marvelous job of switching the scenes back and forth between what is the present state of mind and condition of Rebekah and the events which led to that situation. Both the characters and the plot are very well developed. Unlike other End Times novels, Scars does not get bogged down with in-depth theological discussions of the prophecies and, instead, presents the major points along with the consequences for the actions of the characters. Patience Prence succeeds in telling an exciting and emotionally moving story while also presenting a very believable interpretation of the events foretold in the book of Revelation.Very well done! - Sheila Rae Myers, Author
This book is a quick read into the reality for those still here during the end times, where we'll be asked to follow Jesus Christ even if our loved ones do not. Ms. Prence does a great job putting us in the mind of a young girl forced to do so; at great price but also with great reward! Thanks for sharing the truth!
I loved this book. This book in one that has been written for such a time as this. I keep a list of books I share with others and I'm adding this one to the list. Will be looking forward to more of her books.
