I really cannot explain to you how much I love this poetry. It is just perfection. True to the saying "everyone can read the same book, but they won't read the same story." This poetry is the inspiration for my own writing. I can't get enough.
I bought this book after reading I Wrote This For You and was left wanting more. I have no idea who wrote this, but whoever it is has a way of connecting with the human spirit. I've highlighted more poems in this book than I have quotes from any other book I've read. It's a beautiful collection of poems ranging from love to life and death. There isn't any sense to it who the author is or sometimes the title of poem and the poem itself, it just is. Extremely real and subtly convicting, I Wrote This For You: Just The Words is an excellent read if you want to know more about human existence and the feelings all humans experience.
I give this a 5 because the words written in this book are written in a way that EVERYONE and ANYONE will find at least one poem (or whatever you want to call it) that calls to them, that inspires them, that speaks for them. give it a try you won't regret it. it's so beautiful.
I've been following I Wrote This For You since the early 2000's, when it was just a blog. When the first book came out, I was sad to see some of the pieces I'd loved so much (from the blog) not in it. I appreciate this book because it's a collection of everything. Some of mu favorites that had been bookmarked online are in the first few pages. That being said, I am not a fan of the layout only because I feel like there is too much on each page. Maybe this was the only way to fit everything in? This is a personal distraction. What I enjoyed about the first book was the space. Another qualm I have with this is the repetition. I enjoy it to a certain extent, but it feels like a lot of pieces could have been grouped together because of such similarity in the themes and subject matter. This is also a personal distraction.I will always be a fan of Iain Thomas, and I wrote this for you. The writing is simple and beautiful. All in all, this is a wonderful collection.
Oh my goodness... in comparison to the lovely words in this book my review is going to sound rather stupid lol. But nevertheless, we shall continue. Let us begin with the cover. In all reality this is a simple cover, but it looks handwritten and that makes it 300% better for some reason. As soon as I opened the package and saw the cover I knew I was in for a treat, as I'm sure so will you. I didn't think it could be any better and then I actually started reading it. The words are filled with such emotion. I can't accurately describe how magnificent this book is, so you should just click "add to cart" now. I promise you won't be sorry.
I am a poet/editor and festival organizer in Georgetown Texas. I read and hear thousands of poem a year, so I think I can qualify to judge this an excellent book. Some of the work is epigrammatic, and as such suffers from too much compression, that is to say, perhaps they could have a few more words and images. I am one of those editors who always wants the most said in the fewest words, but I also want images and not just statements. I immediately wrote a poem stimulated by a poem in the book, and that is precisely why I gave it 5 stars. It will inspire you, I promise.
Read this and the follow up right after I lost my mother to dementia. Different parts helped me process my emotions at different times. This book appeared just when I needed it most, made me smile, made fond memories long forgotten resurface , made me cry and helped me through ..still continues to help me while I am still coping with her gone. Thank you for this book.
I perused this book on line and was hooked. The poems are unique and are not just love poems to a lover - they can be for a friend/child/parent . . . I have given a couple to friends as it fit what they were going through in their lives. For me to actually buy a book as opposed to download something on my Kindle says a lot. I love this book!
