Origins Of Consciousness: How The Search To Understand The Nature Of Consciousness Is Leading To A New View Of Reality

In recent years science and philosophy have seen a resurgence of open-mindedness toward deeper views of consciousness. This book explores ideas and evidence now changing the way scientists and philosophers approach the place of consciousness in the universe. From the frontiers of modern physics and cosmology to controversial experiments exploring telepathy and mind-matter interaction, the emerging view promises to change how we understand our place in the universe, our relationship to other life, and the nature of reality itself.

This book is a highly accessible investigation of current theories in physics, neuroscience and psi research that all point to consciousness being intrinsic to the universe. The author makes complex ideas readily understandable and shows how research is moving the concept of consciousness from an epiphenomenon to being core to the nature of reality.A must read for anyone interested in consciousness and the nature of reality.

This book was a joy to read. Much like Brian Greene has brought theoretical physics and string theory to the layperson, Nelson has taken a very difficult topic and presented it in a way that can be easily understood by everyone. In fact, this will be the first book I recommend to anyone who wants to start exploring the science and philosophy of consciousness more deeply. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about the different research efforts that have been conducted to explore mind-matter interaction. One can't help but feel a bit humbled by the staggering intellect and perseverance that so many great thinkers have put into the search for answers.Read this book, if anything because it is extremely well written, articulate, and insightful.

An excellent book which was well structured and gives a good summary and synopsis of the state of play of research into the subject, as well as a few new suggested concepts and ideas. This is a good book to assist in avoiding much of the historical chaff on the subject without leaning too heavily on the technical in-depth science concepts. It is good to see books like this arriving from newer younger people with energy and drive, and make the effort to write it down. It is a shame there isn't a hardback version as it would prove very useful to hit certain people over the head with it :-)

For anyone interested in consciousness studies, Nelson's "Origins of Consciousness" is a must-read. Comprehensive in nature, this book will prove valuable for a wide spectrum of readers, ranging from the lay reader to scholarly authority. Keep an eye out for future works by Nelson, for the insight and quality of this book is exceptional.

One of the most comprehensive books on consciousness I have come across over my studies on this subject of over a decade. Clear, concise, and brilliantly thought out. I recommend this book to anyone who is fascinated by the mystery of life and its potential relationship to physics.

This beautifully written book introduces a variety of fascinating philosophical concepts and ground-breaking scientifically-rigorous experiments which provide compelling insights into the nature of consciousness. The author explores the wider implications of living in a universe in which consciousness is intrinsic. Deep and comprehensive, yet readable and accessible. I highly recommend it.

I found this book a thoughtful, wide-ranging account of the state of consciousness studies - useful as a primer for anyone new to this highly interesting and surprising field of research, or for those working/studying in this area and looking to broaden their view. While the topic is one that engenders strong views on both sides of the consciousness debate, the author for the most part takes a measured, objective and well-sourced approach - allowing the reader to view and understand the evidence on its merits and come to their own conclusions. Highly recommended.

Adrian Nelson has given us a remarkably insightful and highly readable account of current thinking about consciousness and its profound influence on the entire scope of our new understand of reality.Allan Leslie Combs, Ph.D.Author of Consciousness Explained Better, The Radiance of Being, etc.
