This book is well organized according to the biology standards but is riddled with typos and plain wrong information ( like that goldfish are invertebrates and can be experiment on alive, pseudocoelomates have a body cavity not lined by mesoderm, the hypothalamus is solely responsible for the hormones for sexual maturity and that ATP is only made in photo-system I, among others). In addition, the test has multiple questions that are poorly written or have the wrong answer in the book. I am taking the test this weekend and hope that this book and using my husbands college level biology book to check information and expand concepts, will have been enough to pass. But I know for certain that if I only had this book I would not be in good shape. The publishing company really needs to take a moment to double check the information and grammar in this book and get a real biologist to do it! I hope if they get customer feedback that they will take it seriously because taking a teacher exam means someones future career and the culmination of their dreams. Creating a preparation book should not be done willy nilly like I feel they have done here.

The book has way too many typographical errors and is all over the place. There is no consistency in the reading. The price does not justify its lack of quality. Check out page 51, the second paragraph 'ell' should read 'cell'. The fourth paragraph 'peach' should read 'reach'.

I recently took the Biology 6 - 12 FTCE exam and failed it miserably! I used this book with conjunction to another Biology book and felt like I knew everything! When I went in for the exam, I was shocked to see NOTHING I learned in this book on the exam. This book dumbs things down and simplifies every standard. The FTCE exam is extremely hard and this book was useless.

Did I pass my exam? Yes. Did the book help? Somewhat but not a lot. Several of the questions or topics were not on the book or study guide or the practice exam on the back. If I could go back, yes I'd still get it because you can't be over-prepared, but I simply wish this book would have 1) no typos, 2) better-written questions, more up-to-date information that is pertinent to the exam.Note: the editor(s) really need to get someone who knows the English language at least decently to make the errors disappear.

I did not take the test, yet, but I have to WARN you, there are SEVERE mistakes in this book. The part about MITOSIS is flat out WRONG. This book claims that it's the homologous chromosomes which separate in Anaphase, when, in fact, it's the SISTER/(daughter) CHROMATIDS. This is not the only mistake that I found, but it just blew my mind, especially since the graphic is wrong as well. WOW.

It was not the copy shown in the picture. It was a much older edition and about 20 or so pages worth of the book were repeating information discussed earlier in the book. Twice that I remember off hand entire sections of content and the same graphic were used not more than 10 pages apart.

It seems like this book was a review written by someone that read Campbell’s biology book taking notes, but not in a great way. The result is much like an abstract bundle of ideas that only the person that wrote the review knows the logic to. I must say that for the hardest subjects (e.g. cellular respiration), this book is uphill. Unless you’re fresh out of college or are about to finish your degree, you will probably have to use a reference book (Campbell’s is great!). For simpler subjects this book does the job well. Sadly, it is the best and most comprehensive review book that I have found to date. Just be warned that you will have to use external sources as reference. As far as content, the content is in this book. However, information does not flow well. I have given it 4 stars because it is comprehensive, but I have had to look up a lot of material on my own to understand what the book is talking about.

I would not recommend this book to study alone. If you do purchase this book, have a biology book close by.
