I borrowed the book from a friend. It turned out to be such a great benefit for me that I purchased my own copy. It offers literature on real plant equipment, formulas that are used in the trade, and possible on the test. Has a boiler "language" to it. Covers thing's like safety valves, pumps, da tanks. Great book.I recommend this book to anyone looking to pursue a deeper understand in the Steam Engineering field.
This guide concisely explains the basics of boiler operation, and includes around 400 practice questions. It is more useful than any books I could find at the library. Worth the price. After using this as my primarry study guide, I passed the Stationary Engineer's exam. Some of the information seems outdated, but that's what was on the exam.
Read the entire book and passed the test. If you read this book and practice the example questions you should be able to pass the state exam. You can't skim the book though, you have to read the material and practice the math examples.
In addition to providing many questions (many of which appeared on my licensing exam), this book gives an excellent overview of high pressure boiler operation. This is probably the best companion piece to another text booknow. It's not terribly in depth, what I did was read a text book then read this as a supplement before my exam. This is a great production
