This book is the second book in our series of mini- books - PMP® Exam Preparation Simplified Series Over the last 16 years Aileen has helped over 10,000 project managers in her workshops obtain their PMP® credential. Often the participants in Aileen's workshops are successful project managers who may lack experience is specific topics on the PMP® Exam. The topics that participants seem to struggle with the most are: Earned value Management (EVM) Contract types and calculations(FPIF, CPIF, PTA, etc.) Network diagrams including float, free float, project float, leads and lags Financial based questions including IRR, ROI, etc. Statistical based questions There is one thing all of these areas have in common and it is math. I think this is a great mini-book, very useful for studying for the PMP exam. The book consists of a short overview of the topic, although I think it would be more helpful to know the material before you buy this book. It's a good refresher though and then it jumps right into 50 questions and answers. For some the questions might seem repetitive but this is the best way to learn and memorize formulas. I didn't take the PMP test yet but I'm hoping this mini-book will help me as that day is arriving quickly. I hope Aileen Ellis puts out more mini-books soon to address all the topics on the exam.
I used this ebook during my last days to my exam. I found it to be useful in answering questions on contracts types and calculation in passing my PMP exams this week. It is a must have for everyone preparing for PMP exam.
Another great reference book from Aileen Ellis. In preparing for the PMP, I was familiar with some contract types, but had only worked with a few of them. This book helped me understand how to rapidly break down the information in a question, select a good pricing model, and set up a solution. When I took the exam, I found that her problems were representative of what was on the test. Just as importantly, each problem is set up to teach a principle of concept. Her methodology prepares you to plug and chug to get numeric answers while also teaching you to do well on conceptual questions as well.
My work as a project manager is focused on firm fixed price contracts so Aileenâs explanation of this content during class and this companion book with practice questions was extremely valuable in my studies. As with everything else Aileen does, her step by step explanation and context for how to solve problems takes away the guess work and enables the learner to approach questions with confidence. I appreciate her attention and dedication to providing resources that are truly helpful and understandable.
Incredible book! I had no knowledge of contract calculations and this book helped me understand all of the contract questions on my PMP exam. The 50+ questions in this book had some twists and turns I wasn't expecting and made me think, slow down, and understand why I had not answered correctly the first time. The author's method of explaining the answer vs. just giving the answer is worth the cost of book itself! I highly encourage anybody who is studying for the PMP exam to purchase this book.
Outstanding resource for those preparing for the PMP exam. In this book, Aileen provides the reader with short definitions key to understanding the different types of contracts. The definitions are then applied to 50 questions in Part II of the book ensuring the reader comprehends how to apply the definitions and equations needed for the PMP exam. This book is short, to the point, and is an excellent source for PMP studies. Highly recommend.
This book has questions in the format of what is on the PMP test and how to solve the contract questions. It only covers this one topic, but I took the PMP just after completing this and I am confident that I really did get every Contract question correct. Thanks Aileen, this is a fantastic study tool.
I passed the PMP exam the day after I attended Aileen's 4-day PMP workshop, and this was one of the books given in class. It explains contract calculations clearly and concisely in an easy to understand manner. The practice tests were very useful and this book was one of the primary resources I used to help me pass the PMP exam.
