I relied mostly on this book while preparing for the ASP. I passed the test on the first try, so that tells you that this book is a good reference. I gave it 4 stars because most of the calculations that were on the ASP did not appear in this book. The book does cover stats, probability and discount factors, but the safety and science concepts were rarely presented in a math problem context. So I was a little surprised when I took the ASP, and it had a good number of problems requiring calculations. This wasn't a problem for me, as I have an engineering degree, but other test takers may need an additional reference. My professional experience has been 90% radiation work (only 2 radiation questions on the test), so I had to learn 99% of the ASP topics from this book. I used some online searches to get more in depth explanations when needed. I would definitely recommend this book to other test takers. I believe it saved me TONS of time!
I really enjoyed reading the book. I bought Safety and Health for Engineers and I studied both books at the same time with same topics. ASP book is summery of 720 pages and really straightforward. I recommend this to anybody that preparing for the ASP.
I think the study guide is very useful to have when you have a few minutes of free time to study for the upcoming test. I like to read it on plane rides while traveling to different offices within my company. It is very well written and keeps me interested in reading it. I like how it goes into deep explanations for every topic instead of just a short overview. It really answers your questions as to âwhyâ something is the way it is. I think the test at the end really tells you what you still need some practice on and allows you focus on your weaknesses. I also purchased the flashcard system they have here on  which also helps out a lot if you only want to study a few topics at a time or want to pick and choose what topics you study.
After reading the reviews on this book I thought it would be an excellent study guide for the ASP exam. I spent a couple of weeks studying for my exam, reading the book cover to cover twice as the author recommended. I took the practice test and after I was done studying I felt fairly confident heading into the exam.After taking the exam (which I passed somehow) I realized that out of the 200 questions on the test, this study guide LITERALLY helped with four (4) questions. There were 100+ questions that this guide did not address even slightly. I was shocked to see the topics and questions on the test and just how different the material was from study guide. It wasn't for my years of experience and some common sense, I would have never passed the ASP exam.The only reason I didn't give this one star is because the book was well written and a good source of information. Excellent information for a subordinate that might work for you or someone interested in learning more than what is offered in an OSHA 10 Hour class.IT IS NOT A GOOD SOURCE for the exam. Find another source.
This review material for the ASP exam is unparalleled and is sure to prepare anyone to pass the exam the first time around. It is thorough and comprehensive. It covers all of the material that I learned in a two year masters degree safety program at Texas A&M University so I know it is well worth the money spent. I highly recommend this review book if you are serious about earning your ASP and then your CSP.
The Flash cards and âSecretsâ Study Guide for the ASP Safety Fundamentals Exam are very helpful and an instrumental partof studying for the exam. It helps with conditioning and disciplining yourself to take the test. Additionally, itâsnice to be able to stick them in your bag and pull them out anywhere you might have some free time to study.Thank you Mometrix !!!!
This is a very good product. I am brushing up on my knowledge of all things in the safety world and this study is a great source for me to turn to. It has lots of example questions to prepare me for the ASP Exam and is very easy to read. I would highly recommend this guide to anyone taking the exam.
I have unfortunately failed the ASP test and wanted to further my skills so I searched for a book like this. So far this book is giving me information that I need to succeed. I am VERY happy with this book and look forward to passing the test in the near future.
