I read the novel & wanted to review notes for study purposes. I am shocked these made it into Cliffs Notes, that is how poorly written I find this to be, and there are errors, such as referencing Johnny Cross instead of Jimmy Cross. I also believe this is missing obvious references in favor of obscure, complicated ones. Author has managed to write in circles, with no thought to clarity or to actually making a clear point. I have not been able to slog through this. Fortunately, the book was much easier to enjoy and to read.Skip this Cliffs Notes. Not only is it poorly written but it misses the point entirely. NOT HELPFUL, quite the opposite.

Cliff's notes once again delivers as a fantastic study aid. By no means should you use this as a replacement for the book. O'Brien has emerged as one of the greatest modern writers on the subject of war, and it would be a pity to overlook his writing. But if you are looking for help to write a paper on the topic, or just curious to discover more about the underlying meaning of the novel, don't hesitate to buy Cliff's Notes.

The "Cliff Notes" is no replacement for reading the real thing, but this text adds so much added material about the author and the stories in the text and history for the time period that anyone younger than 40 years of age can really-really benefit from in an affordable and easily read format. I purchased the Kindle version and read it after I had already read the novel. I found it opened up many new ideas and insights that actually enhanced my already high regard for the novel. I reread the novel as I read this text and discovered some new "vistas" of insight I missed in my initial reading. I definitely recommend it be purchased and read with the novel.

I really liked the definitions of vocabulary words at the end of each chapter summary. The character analyses were very helpful, plus the critical essays at the end.

This gives a good summary and analysis as well as a brief but concise description of each character. It helped me recall details after I read the book.

purchasse for my eent to use allow with box to school reading assignment. Excellent additional source to complement book

The cliff notes really helped me to unravel the stories of Tim O'Brien's masterful work.Without them I fear I would have been in the dark about many of the stories. It's great to hear the author's own words in the notes. It gave me a vicarious glimpse into the minds of soldiers and how and what they carried was so much more than tangible things. Stories - or real life, it doesn't matter. It was a very powerful book.

Some interesting parts but a difficult read; just not smoothly written.
