Liars: How Progressives Exploit Our Fears For Power And Control

Glenn Beck, #1 bestselling author and radio host, reveals the cold truth behind the ideology of progressivism and how the tenets of this dangerous belief system are eroding the foundation of this country.WHY DO WE ACCEPT THE LIES? Politics is no longer about pointing to a shining city on the hill; it’s about promising you a shiny new car for your driveway. The candidate who tells the people what they want to hear is usually the one who wins—facts be damned. Politicians may be sleazy and spineless, but they’re not stupid. They see that the way to win is by first telling people everything that is wrong with the world, and then painting a vision of the life they want—a Utopian vision that they’ll create right here on earth, one where no one is ever sick or hungry, jobless, or homeless. All we have to do is surrender our freedom and someone else’s wallet and they’ll make it happen. And so they continue to lie, and we continue to believe them, and they keep winning elections. The only way to break the cycle is to understand why Americans fall for the deception over and over again. In Liars, #1 bestselling author and nationally syndicated radio host Glenn Beck reveals the startlingly simple answer: fear. At our most basic level, we’re all afraid of something. Progressives from both parties exploit this by first pointing out the things we should be afraid of, and then offering us “solutions” to these fears. Solutions that always require us to give up our freedoms. Solutions that are based on two things: lies, and an unrelenting hunger for power and control. In his signature no-holds-barred way, Beck destroys the false promises of Progressivism and takes us through its history, showing how each “wave” built up on the one before it, ultimately washing up to the beach in the form of Barack Obama—and whoever is next.

You have to read this for yourself, and if you are a liberal-- just promise me you will finish it. His facts can be verified in this book, so he is either right on the mark and all he claims to be or a liar himself backed by verified fact. Readers must ask themselves "why did this man give up such a successful show on FOX?" Whatever your political bend- you will be impressed by research able fact. As our President John Adams said over 2 centuries ago: "Facts are stubborn things!"

Don't look at the one-star reviews. THEY HAVE NOT READ THIS BOOK. This book is well researched. I may not agree with some of the point, it has opened my eyes. Thanks Glenn!

I will start with a lot of Trump Trolls, Liberal Haters, and just general Haters, will be reviewing this book having not even purchased it. I wish even if you don't like Glenn, that you would read it before you review. I personally think Glenn is a good guy but disagree with him on his religion of Mormonism, (Nowhere in the Bible does it talk about another way to heaven or another man we must believe in besides Jesus) and I disagree with his seemingly supportive view of Evolution in the book. The Bible say's Adam and Eve were created and set in a garden, thus, evolution is not biblical. However, on the broad view of historical fact, looking at progressives, Glenn is spot on. This man is a true Constitutionalist. If you aren't a proponent of the Constitution, and you tend to believe your social studies teacher in middle school, then you most-likely will not like this book. I took a women's studies course at UNT and learned about Margaret Sanger. I was taught that she was some brilliant standup woman. I researched her for myself and figured out she wasn't quite the hero and even went back to that class to debate the professor in front of the class. This book goes in to the whole Margaret Sanger Debacle. Wonderfully written.

This is a brilliant piece of writing. Glenn displays the heart of a teacher by using a storytelling approach to history, and he extols the virtue of individualism. He takes the reader through America's slow, insidious journey toward socialism and authoritarianism in the name of human progress. This should be required reading for anyone who is wondering exactly how we got to this point. What a great tonic to the elitist doctrine taught on college campuses and presented by the media.

Fascinating look at history that progressives refuse to teach to our kids and grandkids.

I just purchased this book. After reading the reviews, 55% 5 star to 45%1 star, and nothing in between, it's obvious to see the divide between Conservatives and Liberal Progressives. Seems Conservatives are in the majority, and the 1 star reviews don't really review the book, but rather just bash a person they disagree with. I've always liked Glenn because he is so well researched before he writes or speaks. I don't always agree with his conclusions, but so far, I can't dispute his research. After reading most of Glenn's books, I'm sure I'll enjoy this one as well. I will update on this book in a few days when I finish it. My 5 stars will only change if it's poorly written, or I find the research flawed....I won't change the rating on the book just because I disagree with an opinion or dislike the author's conclusions.Update: My 5 stars stay. This book is a wonderful account of how progressives have been able to put their policies in place over the years, as well as refining their techniques for doing so into an art. Beck shows, through historical accounts, how this has been going on for years. That the process of changing our country into something that has already been tried elsewhere and has failed, is an ongoing thing by people who think they are smarter than the people who failed at it before. It's well written but I missed the humor Beck usually injects in his books. I have the kindle version which lists his sources and references at the end of the book rather than on the page where it is mentioned. I don't know how this book in hard copy lists his notes.I can't tell you what conclusion you will come to after reading this book, but you will come away with a better understanding of how the progressive movement works.

I have all of his books, and this is up there with his book on common core. Maybe even better. These stories and facts will explain exactly how our country has gotten into this mess, and how we are all being lied to. After Soros info in the news, this book is completely vindicated!

Excellent history that, for some, will be hard to swallow. As many other "reviewers" have displayed, their allegiance to their savior Trump overshadows basic indisputable facts. Don't let your own politics get in the way of dealing with a hard past. Both sides of the aisle are attacked, therefore lots of people will be angered over this. Facts and evidence be damned. Great read, do not let the reviews fool your perception of this book. Many it seems cannot get over their cognitive dissonance.
